Social Competency
Personal Truth, Collective Truth, Modern/Scientific Truth?
Intercultural Competence
What is it? Intercultural competence is a range of social skills to function effectively, interact harmlessly, and work communicatively with people from different cultural backgrounds.
Why do we value it? We all have our personal truths. We believe that no human knows “better” than another, just different. We hope to create safe spaces for people to share their truth and for us to tolerate harmless cultural differences.
Emotional Intelligence
What is it? Emotional intelligence is the ability to discern others’ emotions, manage one’s own, and understand how they affect self/others. Emotions are a pillar of humanity, however when acting out of negative emotions, one can cause great harm to those around them. To be emotionally intelligent is to be able to discern how to respond and not react, especially during high stress or difficult situations.
Why do we value it? Similar to cultural competency, holding emotional intelligence allows us to better understand human experiences and avoid emotionally charged actions. This allows us to act from a place of composure and understanding. We believe growing in our ability to interact across our experiences creates a more understanding, positive, and wholesome world.
